I knew I was sleepy, but I didn't want sleep to get over me. I tried my best to stay awake and to stop myself from sleeping. It was the only time to think about things that happened and are about to happen.
I fought against sleep for three times before I felt something weird throughout my body. What was happening? Was it my body or was it my bed that was vibrating?
I felt so uneasy. It was like my spirit was trying to leave my body. I tried to move my hands but it was beyond impossible. I didn't have any control over my own body. I was so terrified and when I saw something in front of me, it only got worse.
I saw three people in front of me. All of them were wearing white and they were laughing at me. I was so scared but thank God I was able to recite a short prayer. I slowly gained consciousness and realized that it was already fifteen minutes before six in the morning. It felt like I only slept for a minute.
It's so fascinating how time flies too fast and how changes occur. It's too strange why love can fade away in a matter of second. It's extremely unbelievable how two people can drift apart in a blink of an eye. Life is so wild and colorful. There's just too much to discover.
Why did I even think about love?
My thoughts were distracted by a knock on the door. "Andi, are you up? You promised to jog with me today." It was my sister.
With a little twist on the knob, the door of my room opened. She popped her head to check if I was already up.
"Yes, I am. You can come in if you want. I'll be fast." I replied as I stood up to fix my bed before getting ready to jog.
"Hmm, you really look good in your outfit." She told me with a grin.
"Because we are wearing the same outfit, you silly girl." We were wearing a pink top, a pair of yoga pants and a pair of nice pink running shoes.
I tied my hair into a high ponytail before dragging her out of my room. "Did you bring your phone?" She asked me and I nodded.
"Is mom cooking some pancakes? I can smell it."
"Yes, do you want to eat first?"
"Definitely, yes." I dragged her again. This time, we were heading to the kitchen to eat pancakes. I love pancakes!
"Good morning, mom!" We greeted her as we entered the kitchen.
"Good morning, Andi and Kayla. Eat first before heading out." She said and handed us a plate with our pancakes.
I immediately sat and devoured the delicious treat. Oh, it was so good.
"Look at these two girls here. Did you ever hear about the word diet? I thought you were going for a jog?" Dad popped out of the door with a newspaper in hand.
"Yes, dad, but it's not bad to have a little bit of pancakes for breakfast."
"You had a little serving. but I bet your big sister here had a lot." He gave me a pat on the head. He was teasing me again.
"I only had one, dad." I pouted.
He let out a laugh and hugged me. "You know that I love teasing you."
"I know, dad." I nodded.
Kayla gulped a glass of water and it was her time to drag me out of the house. "Don't take too long and don't go out of the village." We heard mom's voice as we closed the front door.
"Where should we go?" She asked me.
"Let's go to the park." I answered and she started to jog, more like run. "Hey, slow down! Don't run!" I shouted and followed her.
We jogged towards the park. It was just a usual day and the place was not crowded at all. I enjoyed the morning breeze while my not so little sister did her usual routine whenever we jog. "There's no hot guy here, Andi."
I laughed at her. "We grew up in this village, Kayla, and we always jog here, so tell me, is it even possible to have new guys here whenever we jog?"
"Who knows, right? Maybe your aura drives them away." She teased me.
"What? Are you saying that boys don't like me?" She laughed at me and shrugged the idea.
When we got home, mom and dad were already nowhere to be found. According to nanny, they visited their friends who just came back from the US. "Melissa and her family will visit us at 12 noon so I have to cook some lunch for them. Do you need anything?"
"No, we are good. Thanks, nanny!" I gave her a smile.
Kayla and I went to our respective rooms to get ready. "Wear your red dress, I want us to wear the same dress." I received a text message from my silly sister.
"Yes, ma'am." I replied.
It was the first day of summer break, actually, and it was not unusual for me to go jogging. Most of my summer days were spent in front of the television, in front of my laptop or inside the kitchen. I was also managing a small online sweets shop during summer days. I baked some sweet goods and sold them online. Customers usually wanted their goods delivered in their houses while some of them preferred meet ups. I didn't intend to use it for a living, though, because I really wanted to become a Doctor.
I opened my laptop to change the status of my shop from close to open. I was ready to take some orders and I was so excited to bake.
I let out a yawn before heading to the bathroom. The water was so comforting. It was not too cold nor too hot. I washed my body thoroughly before grabbing the towel to dry my body. I grabbed the only red dress I had.
Red dresses were not really my thing. I was not that confident to wear that overwhelming color. My sister gave it to me so I didn't have the right to say no to her. Plus, it was okay to wear it as long as I was not the only one wearing it.
I brushed my hair and let it dry naturally. It was not really a big deal to me since my hair was manageable. I stood up in front of the mirror and stared at myself. I have always had this attitude of staring in front of the mirror for a long period of time just to check if I looked funny or just fine. Sometimes, I even pretend to be a model. It was vanity, I guess.
I smiled in front of the mirror for the last time before walking out of my room. "K, are you done?" I opened her door without a single knock.
"Jeez, don't you know how to knock?" She rolled her eyes in frustration. I caught her modelling in front of the mirror.
"Why? Is there something I don't know? You were just modelling in front of your mirror. It was nothing unusual." I said as I went beside her.
"You are crazy, Andi."
"Just like you, Crazy K." I kissed her cheeks and took a mirror photo of us. I really loved my not so little baby sister.
"Oh, no, delete that photo now!" She shouted.
"What? You look good in here."
"You are a bully!"
"I love you too, K." I shouted back before closing her door. My phone was full of her stolen pictures.
I really loved teasing her.
I thought it was good to prepare something for the visitors. So, I headed to the kitchen to prepare a rainbow themed crepe cake. Nanny was still there. She was busy cooking some food for lunch and she was preparing a feast!
I gave her a small kiss on the cheek and chatted with her for a while before preparing the ingredients for the crepe cake. Basically, it was just a cake made out of stacked crepes.
I added eggs, sugar, vegetable oil, butter, milk, and flour in a bowl and blended it to make a smooth batter. Then, I divided the batter in six separate bowls and colored each with red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. I prepared a pan with butter and cooked it, thinly, until it was ready. I stacked the crepes using whipped cream as frosting. Lastly, I tried to smooth out the outermost frosting just to make it more presentable. I popped it in the fridge and let it chill for an hour.
"Do I look good, Andi?" Kayla popped out from the kitchen door.
"You look the same, but of course you do." I smiled at her. "You look like me, so yes you do." I said with a laugh.
"We are beautiful, Andi." She smiled and pulled me to the living room. We waited a little bit until our parents and the visitors arrived.
"Oh my gosh! Is that you, Andi? Look at you, you are so beautiful and gorgeous!" A woman, who looked like she had the same age as my mom, hugged me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "You were so little when we left and now you are so stunning!" She complemented me once more.
"Thank you..." I paused because I didn't know what to call her.
"Call me Tita Melissa," she said with a big smile on her face. She was very kind and warm.
"Thank you, Tita Melissa." She smiled once more before going to Kayla. Of course, she hugged and complemented her too.
"Oh look at these beautiful angels." A man, who looked like the same age as our parents, entered the door with dad.
"He's your Tito Felix." Dad introduced him and we said hi to him. They both looked nice and kind.
"Where are your sons and your daughter?" Mom asked them.
"Oh, they will come in a while. They just came home from playing basketball and they wanted to take a shower before going here. Micah is with them and they'll be here in a few."
"Okay, then, let's go have something to eat. I let nanny prepare some food for us."
We headed to the dining room and began eating. Eating was really my favorite hobby above all.
